2006-2007 Articulation Agreements

Articulation is the process of aligning secondary courses with postsecondary courses in an effort to establish a non-duplicative, sequential program of study in a specific career area. In order to be articulated, competencies included in the postsecondary course should be taught in the secondary course. The only programs that are articulated locally are those that are offered at the technical college as well as at one or more of the high schools in the service delivery area. College instructors and high school teachers develop articulation agreements jointly.
Each program is evaluated annually to ensure that the high school Georgia Performance Standards and postsecondary standards correspond. In instances where program standards have been changed, the high school course is evaluated to determine if competencies can be added. If this is not possible, the course can no longer be articulated.
Students are encouraged to seek "free college" credit by applying for articulated credit through the Education and Career Manager.
